Post with 1 note
That’s what everyone keeps telling me about my decision to move here. The weather just turned perfect (minus the fact that we don’t have an air conditioner), and the BHB is officially fully staffed. I seemed to have moved to Chi-town “just in time.”
I can’t explain what it feels like to leave behind everyone I ever loved (excluding Luke, I was lucky enough to wrangle him up here with me), and extinguish my physical connection to my hometown. It -almost- seems like a crazed identity-crisis fueled phase that my husband would remind my kids about someday.
“Remember when your mother sold her car, shaved her head and moved to Chicago?”
Oh well, at least I can say I did it. That’s right. I don’t drink Mountain Dew and go base-jumping for my adrenaline fix, I just turn my life into a traveling circus and see how well I cope. It’s the sick game called Life!
I don’t have much to tell, my life is relatively boring on the day-to-day… I haven’t started working at the local shelter yet “Second Chance Adoption Center” (I know, how perfect isthat?), and I’m just a newbie at work so far.
Icansay that I may or may not be on a reality tv show soon. I would say more, but I’m afraid it may come back to haunt me later…
I keep looking for acting jobs via Craigslist. Hopefully one will catch my eye.
More to come, hopefully full of intrigue and excitement! Hate to make a boring post… (check).
Later!

Well money’s been tight, and our apartment is still in a half hearted state of affairs. But other than that, we’re doing pretty good.
Luke got a job at a logistics firm called Bear Cartage: http://www.bearcartage.com/
And I got a “sweet” little position at a bakery called Bleeding Heart!: http://www.thebleedingheartbakery.com/
It’s real popular in Chicago, with about 4-5 locations and caters tons of events.
I love Oak Park, even if it isn’t in the center of the city. There’s still the hustle and bustle of people on the street (a little TOO much hustle & bustle outside our windows if you ask me), and I can walk to practically everything. I hope the walking will give me the exercise I need to slim down… otherwise I’ll have to join the nearby gym, which is outrageously priced, of course.
We still haven’t rode the “L” train into the city. Kind of disappointing, but I’m sure it’ll happen soon, like when we get some money for a pass. My mission is to find the bus schedule so I can get around Oak Park more easily. But again, money.
I can walk to the nearest Bleeding Heart Bakery location, but my manager tells me that I’ll only train there, since it’s rumored to close soon. After I train I guess I’ll take the Metra out to Elmhurst to work at that location.
We got furniture too, from Luke’s dad, really nice of him. We got a square cubby thing from IKEA and a nice chaise aka fainting couch. For when I get the vapors.
And my mom has offered to take of tuition costs from Second City! Woo! It’s going to make this whole experience a LOT easier. Can’t fuck this one up.
Well that’s it for now. Just a bunch of waiting around for my job to begin, to get money in, to get registered for Second City and face my initial fear of public transit.
More to come!
